Team India announcement, not returning to Ashwin and Jadeja entry
India's return to the 15-member squad for this series against wicket-keeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik's Kiwi team.
Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin will continue to 'relax' during the series against New Zealand. There is a return to India's 15-man squad for this series against the Kiwi team of wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik. The All India Selection Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the team for the series starting on October 22. Lokesh Rahul, who is part of the ODI team against Australia, has to leave the team. Fast bowler Shardul Thakur also has a comeback in the team.
While resting the pair of Jadeja and Ashwin in the third series, the selection committee has kept Akhtar Patel, Yuswendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav in the team. Meanwhile, Ajinkya Rahane, who is out in the Twenty20 series against Australia, remains in the ODI team. India needed an experienced batsman in the middle order.
Rahul, as an opener, was unable to bat in the middle-order. On the Sri Lanka tour, the team management gave them opportunities in the middle order, but they were unsuccessful. In such circumstances, selectors have selected Karthik at their place.
Fast bowler Mohammad Shami and Umesh Yadav, who were part of the team in the one-day series against Australia, have not been selected. Shardul, who made his debut in Sri Lanka, has come back once more. He was not part of the team for the series against Australia.
Team: Virat Kohli (captain), Rohit Sharma (vice-captain), Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Manish Pandey, Kedar Jadhav, Dinesh Karthik, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (wicketkeeper), Hardik Pandya, Akshar Patel, Yuswendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Jaspreet Bumrah , Bhubaneswar Kumar, Shardul Thakur
